we’re all human afterall

It is done. Just about.

When?
Saturday, April the 9th, some time before midday.

Where?
London, the Apple store. (I didn’t hear any other suggestions :P )

Who?
Myself, Isis, Beneath, Shish, Malagate, Irimi Nage, Jargon, Dr Fugitive, Bantam, Loismustdie, Edz, Keg and maybe Milliways (and her bloke).
What’ll we do when we get there?
(window) shopping, eating, drinking, flirting with Isis (form an orderly queue guys), insulting the Moomin bag, and maybe a film or two.

And now, some advice. Meeting a bunch of people you don’t really know or trust, in a big scary city full of crime is risky enough for you, never mind your Powerbook. Leave your laptop at home, people. Normally I take mine so as to watch a film on the train, but we’re going to be out and about all day, with nowhere safe to dump the thing. I think I’ll get a magazine to read, or I could actually talk to someone on the train….

While you’re here, I may as well say that the new Daft Punk album is a real mixed bag, and not really in the good liquorice allsorts way. Ho hum. I still have high (though doubtless misplaced) hopes for the new Gorillaz album.

  • So, it’s all moved to the sexy wordpress blog, and I thought maybe you goons would like to discuss the thing here in the comments, seeing as the thread is dead and gone.

    Shish PMed me with this:

“Minase & I at least would like to see the planetarium while we’re there; £11 per person from 5-6pm, more during the day and less if we can get 10 people to come as a group – so something to add to the to-do list, kplzthx”

Mmmm, planet… arium. What say ye?

  • Yes Bob, planetarium :)

It’ll probably suck, but we’re feeling compelled by strange forces to go…

  • Ooooh, we could go see the tate modern! Last time I went there was some pretty cool stuff. Lots of boring stuff too, but the cool stuff made it worth checking out.

Also, last time I was there I bought a poster and left it on the tube, so I would like to buy it agian and not lose it this time. :D

  • Though I wouldn’t mind doing wither of those things (wait I lie, I’m not spending 11 pounds on a planitarium, it’s honestly not that great) though this seems to be shifting the focus of the meat from geekery to nerdery. That said, the Tate Modern is free and does warrent half an hour, plus it’s near southbank where I’m hoping to go for parkour fun..

P.S. I’ll be bearded and may or may not be wearing a pinstriped suit, vote on it if you like.

  • Yeh, I dunno about the planitarium either, but I’m flexible.

How are we gonna recognise each other?
I’ll be quite easy, 6’32″ curly hair, sideburns, (slight) blackeye.
I don’t know if I’ll wear my labcoat, as the nutter preacher guy at oxford circus recognises me now, and he sure can yammer on.

  • How indeed. Surely most of us have photos in Animal’s forumites gallery?

  • Okay, i guess if the forums don’t come back up soon people will check this thread…

Email minase (at) encapsuNOFUCKINGSPAMlated (dot) net

    We want to know:
    – Forum username
    – If you’re coming, and when you think you can make it (roughly)
    – If you have a mobile phone number we can use to tell you we’re moving on to another place, or to ask you where the fuck you are :) , include that.
    – If you don’t want said number to be passed on to anyone else, say so.

  • Cort put message on forums \o/

    Pls read above :)
People we’re waiting on info from:

Irimi Nage, Edz, Jargon, Dr Fugitive, Loismustdie.

Currently confirmed with time of meeting + contact info:
Bantam, Keg, Minase/Beneath, Isis, Bob, Shish, Malagate

    …i think that’s everyone?

  • Sorry guys, can’t make it: I’ve got financial things to sort out and this is the only weekend I can do it :\

I’m gypped off, but I hope I’ll get to meet you all sometime soon.

    Take care

  • Given that certain important people (i.e. me, and probably Isis) will be arriving late, should we arrange an order in which to actually do things when we’re there? As well as deciding what to do at all, to be honest.

  • Well Keg, what do you want to do? I have the sudden urge to go see Constantine, since I haven’t yet, and I bought some new Hellblazer today. The general plan, however, seems to be to decide as and when. If there’s anything you really want to do, then we’ll wait until you turn up to do it.

  • I’m not travelling all the way to london to see films I’ve already seen!

  • Going to meet people in London and then spending hours sitting in a dark room staring at a screen does seem a bit retarded, whether you’ve seen the film before or not :P

Though seeing Keg’s face during Constantine would be amusing…
I wonder if he’ll scream in rage? ^_^

  • OK, I see nobody wants to see Constantine. I shall see it myself at some point. Now, any other bright ideas?

I wanna go on the London Eye!

  • I can’t make it either dammit! I’m gonna be in chessing world of adventure… *laughs hysterically* rolla costas!

  • I’d like the London Eye… it sounds like a fun thing to do :)

Others voiced some concern over the cost though… how much is it again? I mean it can’t be too much… it’s only a glorified ferris wheel for gods sake :P

  • Greetings,
I’ve sent my phone number to you, and I believe LoisMustDie arrives back from India late today, but will probably come, or give me a call if not.

As for the London eye, it’s okay, obviously nothing to exciting, unless you have claustaphobia and/or a fear of heights.

  • Who is Laurie, BTW? o_O;

  • Lo there, I’ll be wearing a black fleece with a Southampton Skydiving Society logo on the front for recognition purposes. See you then.

  • I guess you’re right cows are cool. :)

  • zomgpics (cue I AM SO FAT ;_; angst). I’ll be at victoria at ~9, shouldn’t take long at all to get to the apple shop. I may do some hanging round the fast food type places before leaving victoria though; standing round a shop for 3 hours would be suspicious and boring…

How much money would a day out cost? The things I have planned so far are ~£20, but I would think bring more to be safe~

I’ll be wearing the pictured blue fleece, as always. Mobile phone number will be mailed to minase as soon as I can figure out who’s I’ll be borrowing…

  • Shish: you may as well come and meet Minase, Malagate and I at the station, well, if you want. I’m pretty sure we’ll be the next lot of people to arrive.

Cowking: Erm, what now? On second thoughts, never mind. I also have no idea who Laurie is.

London eye: £12.50 each. Not for the poor. Oh, another thing we have to do: visit the Harrods food court and avail ourselves of some of their delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I make a point of getting a load every time I go to London, as they are gorgeous.

Isis was saying something about buying some PVC trousers too, so I guess we can stick some mild fetish-shopping on the itinerary :D

  • With my luck, by tomorrow you might be able to recognise me as the guy with TWO black eyes.

    Chingford sucks.

  • > you may as well come and meet Minase,
    > Malagate and I at the station

Yes, but which? Minase said something about some station that wasn’t victoria ._.

As to names, you people know me well enough to call me Shish in real life, so as to stop confusion amongs the chrisses~

  • I shall be coming fo’ sho’. Apple store 11AM, I’ll be there. The only things I have to do is go to FP and Gosh comics, though laughting at children in Camden is good fun.

It’s cold so I wont be wearing my suit, but I will be wearing a leather trench coat, a Jimi Hendix hoodie, a black bag, and a worrying grin.
