It seems the new Pope doesn’t like rock music. Now, I’m all for some nice steadfast, conservative opinions in the Vatican, but rock music? Here’s what he has to say on the matter:
“Rock”… is the expression of the elemental passions, and at rock festivals it assumes a sometimes cultic character, a form of worship, in fact, in opposition to Christian worship.
I suppose, being a German, that blasmusik is more his bag.
Now, before anybody gets uptight about this entry’s title, it’s actually a reference to the new Gorillaz album, Demon Days that I have been listening to today. I’m pretty sure it’s not out yet, unless the release date got bought forward due to its leak onto various P2P networks. Regardless, my copy is obviously not all that kosher.
On first listen it was a bit “meh”, with Dirty Harry and Feel Good inc standing out as decent tunes, but after two or three plays it’s starting to grow on me as a whole. I especially love track 13, Fire Coming Out of a Monkey’s Head.
Speaking of piracy, today engadget covered the now somewhat old story of the Mac OS 10.4 GM being leaked, possibly from the DVD-duplication factory in China, and were nice enough to link to a site carrying a torrent for the disc image. Indeed, they linked to the info page for the torrent, leaving those who followed the link all of about three clicks away from registering with the site and downloading the rich, succulent file for themselves. I’m sure Apple’s legal team will reward them for their fastidiousness in due time. Needless to say, I’m downloading it as I write this
