Everybody knows that Apple is fast running out of cool feral cats after which to name its operating systems. The boys at Cupertino have already used Cheetah, Puma, Panther, Jaguar and now, Tiger. Lynx is a no-go, thanks to the Atari Lynx, likewise the Cougar, and the Leopard has a (completely unfounded, mind you) reputation as a dishonest, deceitful creature. The Lion too, whilst seeming an obvious choice for its power and lush mane, is far more a lumbering and idle beast than its feline relatives: not an association anyone wants made with their operating system.
It seems, therefore, that Apple has no choice but to call upon the humble ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) to fill this cat-shaped hole in its line-up. A lithe and agile predator it is also versatile, being able to both climb and swim, making it the ideal poster-boy (or possibly cat) for a modern OS.
In preparation for the announcement of OS 10.5 Ocelot I have made an ocelot desktop background and an avatar. I now await the WWDC to confirm my amazing prescience.

I don’t think leopard’s out – they already used cheetah, after all
You’re right, it does look like he’s getting head.
