Today is an awesome day. I started early with my last exam. No lie: I wrote about a guy fucking a sheep. I got some coursework back, it was a high 2:1.
Then it was in to Nottingham to Lee Rosy’s tea shop, where I ate no less than three different types of cheesecake. Also, they apparently host a “Nintendo DS night” – How awesome is that?
Thereafter we progressed to the cinema and saw Magicians, starring Mac and PC. It was terrible, but also very very funny… I’ve not worked that bit out yet. Next, we ate japanese, and now we’re at an Of Montreal gig in this tiny bar called The Social, hence this post’s title. I kid you not: the cigarette machine’s LED readout across the room is scrolling “welcome to the social”, I think they should get in touch with Microsoft’s legal team?

[edited with links and shit, now I'm at a real machine]
So, Play.com have what seems like a fucking crazy deal on.
I know for a fact that my good buddy Jack bought this exact pair of headphones from this exact shop for like, £70 a few months ago.
Some kind of error, or are they just dumping stock on what is doubtless a slow seller? I mean, A2DP is great, and so are these cans, but who outside of us geeks think A2DP isn’t some kind of filthy porn?
It’s a shame they don’t also stock (with similar pricing) these, since I’ve fallen right out with the tied-together-by-string style of headphones.

I saw this on google’s new street-view thingy. I’ve been playing with this all day today and am totally blown away. Hopefully it is not long before all streets are mapped thus, then we will truly live in the future.
Also: mapping the world is hungry work.
In the last three days I have sat three exams, each at 4.30pm. Tomorrow I will sit another… at 9.00am.
For those of you keeping score, that’s a paltry 15 hours between one exam finishing and the next starting.
After that, I wait until mid-week, and then I wait another week. That’s four in as many days, then two in two weeks.
I rest my case, your honour, it is plain to see that the University of Nottingham’s time-tabling is organised entirely by a poorly-trained helper monkey.
1) My Macbook is down.
It was acting kind of funky yesterday before I left for work, so I shut it down forcibly by holding the power button. When I return in the evening it is not booting at all. It can boot off my iPod, which has some diagnostic stuff on it, but the internal drive cannot be accessed in any meaningful way.
I’m pissed off. Mostly because none of my itty-bitty screwdrivers are quite right for getting in to it to prod the disk and see if it needs replacing. That wouldn’t be so bad, since I’d been meaning to buy a bigger disk for it anyway. Of course, the possibility remains that something altogether more sinister is amiss.
2) I am down.
Exam stress, dead Macbook, inability to fix it, bunged-up nose that just won’t shift and a stye in my eye that makes me look like I ought to be ringing bells in Paris.
I just ate a chocolate brownie the size of Kuwait, and while it’s put me on an almighty sugar-high I’m not sure it’s actually helping.
3) The Apple Store is down.
As I type this the Apple store has been replaced by that cute “we’re doing things, shhhh” post-it note thingy that they do when they’re putting some new product into it.
This following a particularly frenzied round of new-macbook rumours has me thinking maybe I could have held out another couple of weeks or so before plonking down for my (now-broken) MBP?
If it’s anything particularly exciting I may have to stuff mine on eBay (as soon as I fix it). Otherwise it’s just going to contribute to #2.
[edit] No MacBook Pro updates, but some boring (as predicted) MacBook updates. Store’s still down, mind, and Thinksecret say their sources definitely had another 2 SKUs that were to be released today
